3 Ways to Advocate as a Caregiver

  1. You know best. Lisa saw that her son had 14 strep tests all coming up negative over a two-year period and he still was sick. She trusted her instincts to push for more tests and find out why he was so ill.
  2. Find a support group. When a loved one is diagnosed with a rare disease, it is a continuation of the journey to find better outcomes. Having people who understand your challenges is invaluable for you and your family.
  3. Make time for yourself. Find what lifts you up and say ‘yes’ to those things and ‘no’ to things that take away from your joy.

 

Be A Rare Disease Champion

  • Explore clinical trials. Look at all the ways you can share disease state data for researchers to find a cure.
  • Create the best path to living the fullest life.
  • Never give up. Your journey to find answers can feel at times like there is no solution. Lisa shows the power in persistence and what is possible when we keep pushing forward.
