• Don’t be afraid to educate people at all levels about your organization.
• Show how human you are, build a relationships, people will remember you.
• Ask yourself “what is the worst thing that can happen?” and seize every opportunity even if the outcome isn’t exactly what you expected.

Reach Out – Pick Up the Phone

• Stand out by calling a person instead of emailing or texting.
• You have to know your story, before making a call to share who you are and what you do.
• Send a hand-written letter as a thank you note.
• If you admire someone, learn as much as you can and share your knowledge about them. It will make you unique.

How to Keep Going

• Try in any situation, when something doesn’t go the way you think it would, to “always give the best you can”.
• “When you fear something…you freeze.” Look for ways to get out of an unexpected situation.
• Watch and observe when the doors are going to be open. Be ready to walk through them.
• Ask yourself-‘what have I learned?’ after an unexpected situation didn't turn out the way you imagined.
• Recognize even if something ends, there is a lot of good that can come out of it.

Learn from Your Experiences

• Kara shared how when Starbucks shifted direction, she had to think quickly.
• Today, Kara looks at past experiences, as places ‘where you get better'.
